LIBERAL COURSES: RESTORATION

The liberal courses, organized by L.A.B.A. ONLY FOR EUROPEAN STUDENTS, are offered in three months or yearly (November-May) periods.
The courses are available in flexible hours; morning, afternoon and evening. All of them are conducted by qualified and professional professors.
At the end of each course, will be issued a certificate released by L.A.B.A. (Libera Accademia di Belle Arti legally recognized by ministerial decree ( D.M.) 27.04.2000).

- Brief history of restoration- from the Middle Ages to our days. A progressive development of ideologies methodology.
- Restoration paper and its possible application
- Illustrating the principle operation of restoration- preliminary diagnostrics, preconsolidation and consolidation, lines and framwork, cleaning, integration. Combined with practical exercises.
- Illustration of painting techniques and their evolution in the Italian and European painting environment
- Realization of the painting preparation techniques- imprimatur, bolo, mastic.

ART RESTORATION- PAPER (CARTACEO) BASED

- Description of paper constituted materials, in the preindustrial period and illustration of preparation techniques
- Description of a machine- made paper, early materials, additive, recycled paper, cardboard
- General mechanism of deterioration
- Methodology and behavior of paper based' art restoration and preservation. Illustration and practical application of the main operation- deacidification, washing, stain remove, whitening, mechanic cleaning, consolidation and smoothing, patching, disinfections, disinfestations.
