MASTERS COURSE IN GRAPHIC DESIGN

WHO IT IS FOR
The Masters course in Visual Arts of the LABA is a top level artistic training for students who already got a degree in visual art disciplines.

WHERE
Lessons are held at the LABA of Florence in Piazza Badia a Ripoli 1/a.
The Academy has equipped laboratories: we provide Internet access solutions such us cable Internet access, all classrooms have got plasma screens and two laboratories equipped with 15 PC MAC, so it is possible to hold interactive lessons. The teaching staff has a top level artistic and professional background, while the Academy has created relevant synergies with public and private institutions.

GOALS
The aim of the course is to create professional figures who will be ready to enter the Visual Communication world and to give them knowledge in the graphic design circles thanks to the practical and conceptual instruments offered by the LABA. Internships and seminars will be organised with non-resident teachers.

PROGRAMME
Lessons are organised with a section based on communication - introduction - analysis of problems and a section based on the operative design experience. The course is integrated with lectures with the aim of giving the students examples of different approaches to the careers of the Graphic Designer.
A particular emphasize will be given to encounters with artists and professionals, seminars and lectures with external teachers.

OCCUPATIONAL FIELD
A graphic designer works in several circles : graphics and printing (publishing house),
Multimedia communication, advertising, cinema, packaging, free lance; . He can also work as a creative director, a responsible for the image (firms, agencies, publishing houses), as an art director.

TO BE ACCEPTED TO THE MASTERS PROGRAMME at least one of the following is required:
- Degree in Architecture - Art Academy Diploma
- Short Degree in subjects related to the Graphic Design
- Specialisation Degree in subjects related to the Graphic Design

Besides, the knowledge of the more customary software (In design, Photoshop, Illustrator) is appropriate.

DURATION OF THE COURSE
The Masters consists of lessons during the week ends from December to June and includes a complete professional portfolio, an academic thesis supervised by a L.A.B.A. consultant, and an internship in public or private institutions.
